Weather-resistant materials for durable outdoor furniture
It’s that time of year again when you welcome the joys of summer and plan a range of outdoor activities with your family and friends.
As the mercury rises, you probably think fondly of how much time you will be outdoors. If you are looking to renovate your outdoor entertainment space, using durable and weather resistant materials will ensure the longevity of your new furniture.
Nover’s Trespa Meteon is a material of choice for outdoor kitchen designs thanks to its proven durability in the Australian climate.
Furniture designer FrancoCrea, who pioneered the use of Trespa for sustainable outdoor furniture, writes about this “wonderfully innovative material” in his blog below.
A little-known material called Trespa is a wonderfully innovative material used by leading furniture designers in Australia to create refined and unique luxury outdoor furniture for all seasons. The material is specially designed for external use and performs exceptionally well outdoors, looking great for many years to come. Sun and rain will have no significant effect on the material and are guaranteed for 10 years.
Trespa’s high performance qualities lie in its innovative technology, which consists of layers of sheets of wood fibers (paper and / or wood) impregnated with thermosetting resins that create a waterproof upholstery material. A clear topcoat is added to the surface layers and cured by Trespa’s unique electron beam curing technology to improve weather and light shielding properties. These components are bonded together with the simultaneous application of heat and specific high pressure to obtain a homogeneous non-porous material with increased density. Interestingly, Trespa also offers peace of mind with a fire retardant option.
The inherent sustainability of Trespa is at the heart of its sustainability strategy. The longer the product lasts, the lower the environmental impact of its replacement. By involving fewer replacements, durable and long-lasting outdoor furniture requires fewer resources, fewer pollutant emissions and less waste than short-lived furniture. Trespa’s exceptional high performance characteristics ensure the innate and enduring quality of the material.
Requiring no special maintenance and offered in a variety of stunning finishes, Trespa is a hidden gem that innovative furniture designers are embracing.
