City of Midland Hosts Outdoor Activities for National Walk in the Park Day
MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – It’s a national holiday that gets you moving.
Today, many around the world celebrate the annual Walk in the Park Day, including some people right here in our own backyards.
Although it was quite a windy day, many still saved the windy weather to stay active.
Today at The Windlands Park, the City of Midland Parks and Recreation held its first day of free activities.
Families came to the park to enjoy jumpers, scavenger hunts, a cornhole tournament, face painting and more.
Friends of Windlands Park even helped out with the vacation by cleaning up the park.
Joey Jolly, Recreation Director for the Town of Midland, says the event was created to get you moving.
It’s a way for us to get people back after Covid to get them out and exercise in the park,” Jolly said. “For more family time and just having more events and bringing people together for safe fun.”
The recreation department plans to hold the event annually and rotate the event among its other 50 city parks.
And if you didn’t get a chance to hit the Windlands today, there’s still time to lace up your shoes and get outside.
